miscellaneous

a collection of miscellaneous poems that didn't fit anywhere else.  this first one was a collaboration with patrick at a party.

magnetic poetry #1

recall
though behind some lake
her hair whispering her love
her bed singing
she lies beneath one man

together
they dream at the garden
fingers rob light
beauty is near
not weak
but smooth
white sun shot through
with life

worship our vision gone fast
moment of ache

another collaboration of a parody of shakespeare's famous poem.  the original is first, with our twisted version following.

Shall I Compare Thee To A Summer's Day?

Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate:
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer's lease hath all too short a date:
Sometimes too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimmed;
And every fair from fair sometimes declines,
By chance or nature's changing course untrimmed;
But thy eternal summer shall not fade,
Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow'st;
Nor shall death brag thou wander'st in his shade,
When in eternal lines to time thou grow'st:
So long as men can breathe, or eyes can see,
So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.

shallow  i compare thee

shallow i compare thee to a winter's eve?
thou art more frigid and more under-boned
soft snow doth light on groves of silent trees
and winter's reign is quickly overthrown

sometime too wild the eye of the storm doth blow
and often dies the ill-intentioned wind
and every chill from chill we must forgo
by love or fever's pulsing life begins

but thy icy favors you'll not bestow
nor lose possession of thy chastity belt
nor shall men brag they wand'rest where none go
when in country matters you've never dealt

so long as men can rise, and hands can stroke
so long lives thee, who shall never be poked!

oh no not me

nothin's happenin' here, baby
this is the last place you wanna be
i just sit in my chair lately
and take myself far too seriously

let your words carry you away
sing yourself an exit tune
find the door right now, today
i promise you'll forget me soon

cause can't you see the signs
there's no loitering 'round here
get me behind you, find
yourself, please find yourself
but not with me, here

you should crawl
you should walk
you should run if you're able
be on your way
don't you dare stay
there's no way i can save you
not me
oh no not me

needing your way

the windows are open
admitting the breeze
and i try to hold on
as it slips in the sheets
i'm not going to sleep tonight

the streetlamps are shoving
the shadows away
and i become lost
and needing your way
no i'm not going to sleep tonight

i'm not gonna try to lie
with your face behind my eyes
i'm not gonna lay my head
till you leave my empty bed
hell, i'm not going to sleep tonight

safe deep inside me

once i was strong
once i was good
i could take on the night
and shoulder the moon

once i had faith
once i could see
i would run through the fear
and fly far away
from here
from you
from me

it was easy

but you found me, bound me
you made me weak
damn you, goddamn you
you've made me a fool
you've brought me down low
lord, i'm so low
with you

let me know you later
tell me you'll find me then
as i want you to
as i am
let me know you then

and maybe i'll return
when i don't need strength
or a vision unclouded
maybe then i'll return
when i'm safe deep inside me
with no gods left to guide me
maybe then i'll need only you
but tonight just let it be me
